Rare and Endangered Wildlife Species are in Conservation 'Breeding & Return Programs' here at Mountain View.
Mountain View Conservation and Breeding Centre is a leading non-profit Canadian facility that breeds endangered wildlife species into thriving family groups for re-introduction back into their natural habitat, here in Canada and around the world.
Today, we host over 50 species of the world's most rare and endangered wildlife. We work with Governments, wildlife conservation organizations locally in BC, in Canada, and around the world. Learn more about Mountain View's history and origins here.
Mountain View also provides internships to veterinary and zoological university students, and teaches species husbandry skills to conservationists from Canada and other re-introduction countries and organizations. The Mountain View Philosophy gives you more details about our Society.
HOW MOUNTAIN VIEW SOCIETY FIRST STARTED
Gord and Yvonne Blankstein first established the Mountain View Wildlife Conservation Centre in 1986 as a private wildlife species breeding & research facility, with a mission to discover how to successfully breed rare and endangered wildlife in such a way that they could first multiply, and then safely return home to their natural habitats, thriving in good health, whilst maintaining their natural instincts to survive.
By 2002, having experienced much success with their innovative conservation programs, the Blanksteins registered Mountain View as a BC non-profit society, opening the facility to limited pre-booked educational guided tours.
EDUCATIONAL GUIDED TOURS
The added educational mission was to encourage the protection and conservation of wildlife in BC, Canada and around the world by offering a tour of Mountain View as an example wildlife "Ark" to the world. Today, visitors young and old can enjoy a visit to the Mountain View Wildlife Conservatory by pre-booking an informative guided tram tour of the Conservatory. The tour takes about 2 1/2 hours, rain or shine.
Once you visit Mountain View Conservation, we encourage you to join with us in the venture of saving wildlife both here in BC, in Canada and around the world. Please join us, and our Society, and help support our work. When you become a Mountain View member you are entitled to visit the Centre by booking an appointment for a guided tour.
If you are a member of a group, details for group visits or school visits are on this site or please, give us a call and we can provide the details by phone (604-882-9313).
You can also become a donor to support our initiatives or adopt an animal, which is very popular with children, families and as a gift for someone special.
If you live in the Langley area, volunteers are always needed. Check out our Volunteer section for more details.
