OTHER NATIVE CANADIAN ANIMALS AT THE CENTRE
Mountain View Conservation and Breeding Centre is also home to a variety of native animals such as black tailed deer, various bird species, insects and small mammals. They find their way into our ravines, streams and forest areas to feed, breed and rest. It's not unusual to see a few deer wandering along with a herd of addax or playing with the vicuna up on a hill side.
Mountain View Conservation Society has been granted the protection of an adjacent 50 acres of prestine forest area by the BC government. We are the custodians of the land to protect it from development and to continue to provide shelter and habitat area for the local animal populations.
There is a small herd of wood bison at the centre as well. They are often seen during the tours as they have a large range in which to roam. They are breeding and very healthy.
