DIET
Thompson’s Gazelles eat leaves and short grass.
- They are active both during the day and at night. In the wild, four periods of rest have been well documented. These rest periods typically occur from approximately 3:30 to 6:00 a.m., 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., 1:45 to 5:00 p.m., and 7:30 to 11:00 p.m.
- Between their rest periods, Thompson’s gazelles spend their time feeding.
- Thompson’s Gazelles are very difficult to raise in captivity. If they are frightened, their flight instinct takes over and they are inclined to run into the fence and injure themselves.
- Thompson’s Gazelles live up to ten years in the wild with some captive animals known to reach the mid-teens.
